Who We Are
Brookline Cares is a student-run, volunteer organization raising awareness and funds to support people experiencing homelessness. Brookline Cares was started by Brookline High School students in 2021 when rates of homelessness increased across the nation, and in our own backyards, during the COVID pandemic.
What We Have Done
Through visits to emergency departments, shelters, and community-based organizations we have learned about the ways we can help support people experiencing homelessness. Since 2021, we have raised nearly $20,000 that we have used to purchase and donate Empowerment Coats and socks.

Empowerment Coats
The Empowerment Plan is a Detroit-based non-profit that produces an innovative sleeping bag coat for the homeless, as seen in the image behind. Visit the Empowerment Plan website for more information here.

Through our initiative, we donated Empowerment Coats to hospitals such as: Mass General, Tufts Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, City of Revere program for the Homeless, My Brothers Table in Lynn, and the light of Christ Church in Chelsea, and the Faulkner hospital mobile van.
